What we say

"Everyone friendly. Everyone welcome."
State-of-the-art dance club and show bar and sister to Tribe next door. Besides dancing the club has regular drag shows featuring the "Playmates" Karaoke on Sunday nights. Play has opened up its stage to guest stars such as Kimberley Locke, Boy George and The Lady Chablis, as well as theatrical productions.

***** OK... if you've never been to NYC, LA or SF...

...or anywhere else that is, um, gay! It's a "small town dance bar." If the music was better and the drag thing less; very fun. unfortunately it is full of young gays coming out while bringing all their straight co-workers to "gawk" This club is a great space for very special gay themed events (like Kim English last summer.) Overall, basically a straight bar that is gay friendly. (DJ Lenny must go with the straight dance bar music.. It ain't high school.)

***** Play Used to be a great Gay Bar
Posted: December 26, 2008
I used to love going to Play. My boyfriend and I would dance for hours! But over the past year it has become less and less gay. I get it - I understand that appealing to the broader and 18+ crowd has financial benefits, at least in the short term, but GET REAL...this is (or was) a gay club. I swear the last time I was there I was waiting for Lenny B to play "The Macarena". No great dance tracks - in fact, the music is BETTER in the lounge now. I fully support including people from all walks in the community, and seeing so many straight people in Play is interesting, but they're losing track of Play's roots...it's the Connection all over again.

Play is by far the most popular gay dance bar in Nashville. Located on Church St (the "Boystown" of Nashville) right next door to the ever-popular video gay bar Tribe, the club is usually packed on Friday and Saturday nights with hotties from all over the south. The drinks are great, the bartenders are hott and friendly, the drag shows are entertaining and the music is always loud and pulsating. Definitely recommend checking this place out if you are in town.

This place is great huge dance bar with 6 hot bartenders then the show bar with three more big place with plenty to do and see! The cast of playmates are awsome! That Nicole is the thing! They always have something going on with or without a theam! Underwear partys! Porn stars once a month all you can do under one roof! If that's not enough for you they have a sister bar called tribe! Also off the chain! Check them both out!
