Dance if you're gonna dance!
Was here on a Friday and Saturday night. Saturday was MUCH better, shirtless guys, pretty people - but I preferred the music on Friday night. The staff was quick to get drinks, and the music was popping - full dance floor both nights. While not NYC, it's the place to dance in Nashville!
Im not saying theyre racist but........
I've attended Play frequently over the past couple of years, and lately ive notice all these new strict rules that really dont make sense. This is supposed to be a club were people can come and express themselves without ridicule however, i see people getting kicked out for simply model walking to the beat of the music. Or theres a group of dancers that usually dance, ive seen them get kicked out just for dancing......i know huh dancing at a club go figure. Usually the people who get kicked out are black that what makes me think something is up with the manager. The music sucks, they could at least try yo mix it up, i mean that techno shit gets old after about 20 minutes...I woudnt recommend this club if you are visiting..
OK... if you've never been to NYC, LA or SF...
...or anywhere else that is, um, gay! It's a "small town dance bar." If the music was better and the drag thing less; very fun. unfortunately it is full of young gays coming out while bringing all their straight co-workers to "gawk" This club is a great space for very special gay themed events (like Kim English last summer.) Overall, basically a straight bar that is gay friendly. (DJ Lenny must go with the straight dance bar music.. It ain't high school.)
fun times
Play is by far the most popular gay dance bar in Nashville. Located on Church St (the "Boystown" of Nashville) right next door to the ever-popular video gay bar Tribe, the club is usually packed on Friday and Saturday nights with hotties from all over the south. The drinks are great, the bartenders are hott and friendly, the drag shows are entertaining and the music is always loud and pulsating. Definitely recommend checking this place out if you are in town.
